How we work

Our Approach to Financial Education

Every programme at Plai Advisors follows the same basic structure: a series of facilitated sessions in which the lead facilitator presents the material, opens the floor for questions and discussion, and provides printed reference materials that participants keep after the programme ends.

The facilitator is not there to advise. His role is to present information clearly, to hold the discussion at an appropriate pace for adult learners, and to make space for the kind of question that does not get asked in a one-to-one meeting with a financial services provider — because in that context, there is always the sense that someone is selling something.

The sessions are deliberately paced. There is no attempt to cover everything. Each programme is designed around the idea that a limited amount of material, well understood, is more useful than a broad survey poorly retained.

Sessions

Facilitated presentation and discussion in a small group setting.

Printed Materials

Reference cards, packets, or companion volumes produced by the practice.

Reflection

Personal notes and follow-up access to the facilitator for 30 days.

Inflation reading programme
Programme 1 of 3

Reading What Inflation Is

A three-session programme on the patient reading of inflation as a household experience — what the Bank of Thailand's published figures measure, what they do not measure, and how a household at 40+ might consider inflation in its own planning. The facilitator presents the technical content in plain language and offers reflection prompts about how inflation is actually felt within a Thai household. Includes a printed reference card.

  • Three facilitated sessions
  • Bank of Thailand data explained plainly
  • Household-level reflection prompts
  • Printed reference card included and kept
  • 30-day facilitator access after completion

Session steps

  1. What the headline CPI figure measures — and what it does not
  2. Basket composition, regional variation, and the Thai household experience
  3. Reflection: how does your household's actual spending compare to the basket?

Programme 2 of 3

The Conversation About Wills

A one-day workshop on the documents and conversations involved in arranging a will in Thailand, with particular attention to the considerations of households with property or family across more than one country. The facilitator presents the material as background education and provides a printed reference packet; participants are encouraged to consult a licensed solicitor for their personal documents. The afternoon session is reflective, focused on the conversations these documents often invite.

  • One full-day session (morning and afternoon)
  • Thai succession law explained as background education
  • Cross-border household considerations addressed
  • Printed reference packet included
  • Afternoon reflective session on family conversations

Day structure

  1. Morning: Thai will and succession law — what the documents do and do not do
  2. Midday break with reference packet review
  3. Afternoon: The conversations these documents invite — reflective session

Patient reading on risk — four month programme
Programme 3 of 3

The Patient Reading on Risk

A four-month programme of monthly meetings on the patient reading of risk — what it really means in household finance, how it relates to time horizon, and how reading historical Thai-market data over long periods reshapes the everyday meaning of the term. The facilitator hosts a quiet discussion at each meeting and provides a printed companion volume. Each participant keeps a personal monthly note that becomes their own evolving reference document.

  • Four monthly meetings — same group each time
  • Printed companion volume included
  • Personal monthly note kept by each participant
  • Historical Thai-market data discussed each session
  • 30-day facilitator access after final session

Four-month structure

  1. Month 1: What risk means in household finance — a first reading
  2. Month 2: Time horizon — how duration changes the picture
  3. Month 3: Reading historical Thai-market data over long periods
  4. Month 4: Personal notes review — what has shifted in your understanding?
